Buyer – Produce Procurement Specialist

About the role

GreenLeaf is seeking an experienced Buyer to coordinate inventory replenishment for produce categories. The role bridges suppliers, logistics, sales and operations to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery of organic and regenerative farm products.

Key responsibilities

• Place purchase orders with vendors, accounting for seasonal fluctuations and market trends to avoid spoilage, overstocks and shortages.
• Manage the full Purchase‑to‑Pay cycle: PO creation, vendor confirmation, delivery date updates, and collaboration with Accounts Payable.
• Maintain purchasing system data, vendor documentation (W‑9s, indemnities) and resolve Fusion system issues affecting purchasing and receiving.
• Negotiate volume discounts and price breaks while building strong vendor relationships.
• Collaborate with logistics to minimize freight costs and with sales teams to manage stock risks.

Required profile

• 5+ years buying experience, preferably in produce or food service distribution.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university is preferred.
• Experience with food importing, FDA compliance and commodity contracts.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with JDE and the Fusion purchasing system.
• Microsoft Word and PowerPoint competence.
