Weekday Host (Part-Time)

About the role

Alvarado Street Brewery's Carmel bistro is looking for a part-time host with weekday availability. Reporting to the General Manager, the host greets guests and oversees dining room activities to create an exceptional dining experience. It is an hourly position with hours that vary according to business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Cover the entrance, greet arriving guests and thank those leaving
• Oversee and help keep the outlet clean
• Check menus for cleanliness and accuracy
• Answer the telephone, give accurate information and directions
• Maintain the waiting list, select tables and escort guests to their seats
• Solve guest problems and direct communication with the manager
• Answer questions about menu items, clear tables and help with set-up
• Describe table settings to the busser, call to confirm large parties and schedule reservations
• Take beverage orders and serve drinks when needed, and bring guests' needs to the attention of dining room staff or management
• Follow company safety and health policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 6 months of experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
• Valid ServSafe food handling certification if handling food
• Able to stand and work on feet for long periods, lift up to 50+ pounds on occasion and 25 pounds regularly, and work in crowded, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts
