Dishwasher / Prep Cook

About the role

Alvarado Street Brewery & Bistro is looking for a Dishwasher/Prep Cook for its Carmel location, reporting to the Executive Chef. The role keeps the kitchen, cooking tools and equipment clean and sanitized, supports the chef's standards and protocols, and is an hourly full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machinery, set up machines and pot-washing stations, and clean and store silverware
• Maintain the highest level of cleanliness in the kitchen and keep the dishwashing area clean and safe
• Restock silverware, china, pots and pans in preparation and service areas
• Take out garbage and compost bins, break down boxes, organize recycling and support the kitchen recycling policy
• Wash and polish stainless steel, and clean refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, fryers, steam tables, grills, griddles, steamers, kettles, mixers, choppers and slicers, shelves, walls, windows and doors
• Mop floors, clean equipment and walk-in areas, and clean bathrooms
• Keep proper chemical levels in dispensing equipment and follow company safety and health policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to stand, walk and work on feet for long periods, and to lift and carry supplies up to 50+ pounds
• Able to read and follow written English instructions and to communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers
• Able to work in loud, humid, cold and hot environments, and on uneven or slippery floors

Required skills

• Knowledge of sanitation is helpful
• Ability to operate food preparation appliances and machinery
