Vice President, Portfolio Strategy & Analytics

About the role

The Vice President of Portfolio Strategy & Analytics will serve as a strategic, cross‑functional leader within Amherst’s investment and operations ecosystem. This senior role sits at the intersection of data science, asset management, fund finance, and investor relations, shaping how the firm understands performance, allocates capital, and communicates results.

Key responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of performance levers across the P&L and translate data into actionable recommendations for revenue growth, cost reduction, and long‑term asset economics.
• Partner with Data Science to refine cash‑flow and forecasting tools, lead scenario testing, and inform capital allocation and pricing decisions.
• Collaborate with Asset Management to design data‑driven strategies for pricing, renewals, expense optimization, and operational performance.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior leadership and investors, turning analytical conclusions into clear narratives.
• Work with BI and Technology teams to improve data quality, accessibility, and visualization, championing analytics best practices.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in real estate investment management, portfolio strategy, or financial analytics (SFR experience preferred).
• Advanced modeling and analytical capabilities with a track record of influencing senior leaders.
• Strong communication skills, able to simplify complex analysis and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
• Leadership mindset, comfortable setting strategy and diving into detailed execution.
