Traffic Equipment and Commodities Manager (Technical Manager IV)

About the role

The State of Illinois, Department of Transportation, is hiring a Traffic Equipment and Commodities Manager (Technical Manager IV) in Springfield, IL. The position is accountable for the overall administration of state purchasing contracts for traffic-related equipment and commodities, including developing and maintaining specifications used in procurement. It is a full-time, salaried union position with an anticipated starting salary of $5,432 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new specifications and update existing ones, keeping up with current traffic, design and construction policies.
• Collect and summarize statewide needs for major traffic equipment and commodities for purchase processing.
• Evaluate bid responses for acceptability and compliance with specifications, and recommend awards or rejections.
• Supervise or assist in testing, evaluating and reporting on new traffic control devices, materials, equipment and methods.
• Coordinate district purchases and deliveries and act as central office, district and vendor liaison.
• Evaluate current and proposed use of commodities and recommend the most effective use of available equipment and commodity resources.

Required profile

What we offer
