Technical Product Owner – Payments Integrations

About the role

Rainforest is an early‑stage payments‑as‑a‑service startup building embedded payment solutions for vertical SaaS platforms. We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to partner with our Rails engineering team and drive the delivery of payment products that move billions of dollars through our ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery of product initiatives and releases by defining, documenting and communicating goals, requirements and constraints.
• Translate product strategy into functional and technical requirements for the engineering team and manage the product backlog.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate and maintained payment integrations.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, communicate product stories and drive production‑scale releases.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in payment processing or PayFac environments.
• Strong technical background with ability to understand modern cloud‑based SaaS payment architectures.
• Proven ability to gather requirements, create documentation and user stories, and work with agile scrum teams.
• Excellent organization, written communication and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Payment processing and PayFac concepts (credit‑card lifecycle, interchange qualification, ACH funding, merchant underwriting).
• Agile scrum methodology and continuous deployment release strategies.
• Experience with Rails‑based engineering environments.
