Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Rainforest is an early‑stage payments‑as‑a‑service startup building scalable, secure cloud infrastructure for embedded payments. As a Site Reliability Engineer you will own end‑to‑end systems, partner with engineers, and drive automation and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Own and scale AWS‑based infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools.
• Build, operate, and improve EKS and serverless environments supporting core payment services.
• Design modern CI/CD pipelines with GitLab for fast, safe deployments.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and New Relic.
• Automate infrastructure and operational processes to reduce manual work.
• Lead incident response, conduct postmortems, and define SRE best practices (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets).
• Optimize cost, security, and compliance in a regulated fintech environment.
• Support and scale Postgres databases using AWS RDS (Global Aurora).

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles, preferably in a startup or high‑growth environment.
• Strong hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and IaC tools.
• Solid production experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or Ruby.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related fields (preferred).
