Supervisor, Patient Access (On‑Site)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Supervisor for Patient Access to oversee front‑desk operations at an assigned clinic. The role ensures a welcoming, organized environment for patients of all ages and backgrounds while managing staff productivity and patient flow.

Key responsibilities

• Orient, train, evaluate, and monitor registration staff using positive reinforcement.
• Ensure staff compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Plan and schedule staffing to meet daily patient volume expectations.
• Communicate patient flow issues to management and adjust operations accordingly.
• Verify and edit patient demographic and insurance information.
• Explain consent, financial liability, and HIPAA requirements to patients.
• Collect outstanding patient balances, run end‑of‑day reports, and handle fund deposits.
• Identify and recommend process improvements for registration efficiency.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum four years of related experience in patient registration or front‑desk supervision.
• Strong performance‑management, training, and team‑leadership abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
