Summer 2027 Internship: R&D Materials (Greenville, SC)

About the role

Michelin is offering a Summer 2027 internship in R&D Materials in the greater Greenville, SC area. The internship sits within Michelin's engineering programs covering Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer and Electrical Engineering, and focuses on developing composite materials at the Michelin Americas Research Center.

Key responsibilities

• Study the scale-up of production processes from lab to pilot to industry, and research the impact of process levers on flexible composite performance through parametric studies.
• Explore sustainable nano-materials and Michelin proprietary raw materials in the development of new flexible elastomeric composites.
• Explore new design spaces and formulation levers in the development of new materials for future products.
• Create, innovate and test solutions at the Michelin Americas Research Center and collaborate with experts in composite material development.

Required profile

• Major in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, Electrical, Environmental Engineering or Computer Science.
• Currently enrolled full time at an accredited four-year college or university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• US citizen, permanent resident or otherwise authorized to work for Michelin on an ongoing, indefinite basis; the position is not available for immigration sponsorship.
• Ability to interact professionally with external partners, suppliers, customers and colleagues, and to work in teams toward common objectives.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to learn other software systems.
