Subaward Finance Administrator

About the role

The Subaward Finance Administrator supports faculty, staff and subrecipients in managing invoices for externally sponsored programs at Northeastern University. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Subawards, this role ensures compliance with funding terms and facilitates timely payments.

Key responsibilities

• Review payment terms across federal, state, local and industry sponsors to verify invoice compliance.
• Serve as the primary financial contact for faculty and researchers on outgoing subawards.
• Communicate with subrecipients, monitor subaward compliance, and liaise with Procurement, Accounts Payable and Finance.
• Process and track incoming subcontract invoices through the Research Invoice Inbox and obtain payment approvals.
• Prepare and submit FFATA subaward reports and collaborate annually with Research Finance to ensure Uniform Guidance compliance.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with multiple projects.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the capacity to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Solid judgment, discretion and minimal supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant research administration experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SharePoint.
