Student Nurse Intern – Medical Oncology

About the role

Under the general supervision of a licensed nurse, the Student Nurse Intern provides direct patient care in the Medical Oncology unit, supporting patients of all ages with daily living activities and clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with hygiene, grooming, skin care, and activities of daily living.
• Perform vital signs, collect specimens, and document intake and output.
• Support mobility through repositioning, ambulation, ROM exercises, and transfers.
• Provide nutritional assistance, record food intake, and ensure dietary restrictions are followed.
• Execute technical nursing procedures such as urinary catheter insertion/removal, IV therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, wound care, and NG‑tube management.
• Participate in patient assessments, education, and documentation in the medical record.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a School of Nursing or recently completed a nursing program without a license.
• Ability to perform frequent heavy lifting, walking, and other physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work in an environment with exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, and anti‑neoplastic agents.
