About the role

The EMR Technician I supports the Health Information Management department by ensuring patient documentation is accurately collected, processed, and made available to authorized parties. This full‑time, day‑shift position is based at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla, MO.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle requests for patient health information received via mail, fax, phone, or in‑person.
  • Verify patient identity and authorization before releasing records.
  • Collect, check‑in, assemble, scan, and link inpatient, observation, surgery, and discharged charts.
  • Perform self‑quality checks on scanned documentation to maintain record integrity.
  • Provide courteous customer service and resolve inquiries promptly.

Required profile

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of clerical experience with strong computer proficiency.
  • Ability to handle confidential material and maintain attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift 5‑10 lb charts and stand for extended periods.

Required skills

  • Computer proficiency.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
