Medical Assistant – Urology Clinic

About the role

The Medical Assistant works in the Urology Clinic supporting the LPN/RN, physicians and APPs. The role requires high organization, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Escort patients, obtain vital signs, perform EKGs, verify medications, allergies and medical history, and document accurately.
• Handle phone messages, route patient inquiries, and act as liaison between providers and patients, including communicating test results.
• Administer oral, IM and SQ medications, perform point‑of‑care lab testing, collect specimens, and assist with medication renewals and authorizations.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries and diagnostic procedures, complete paperwork, prior authorizations and referrals.
• Maintain exam area supplies, clean and stock rooms, and educate patients on MyChart enrollment.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience; high school diploma required.
• One year of medical assistant or related experience preferred; clinic experience is a plus.
• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant credential preferred; Basic Life Support certification required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lb, stand for long periods and work in environments with exposure to infectious materials.

Required skills

• EKG acquisition and interpretation.
• Point‑of‑care laboratory testing and specimen collection.
• Medication administration (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
