Student Nurse Intern – Float Pool (Evergreen)

About the role

The Student Nurse Intern will work under the general supervision of a licensed nurse in the Float Pool (Evergreen) unit at Phelps Health Hospital. This entry‑level position provides hands‑on experience in direct patient care and a variety of nursing procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including hygiene, skin care, mobility assistance, and nutrition support.
• Collect specimens, record vital signs, intake & output, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform technical procedures such as urinary catheter insertion/removal, IV therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, wound care, and NG tube insertion.
• Assist with patient assessments, education, and coordinate with the primary nurse.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a School of Nursing or recently completed a nursing program without a license.
• Entry‑level candidate; no prior experience required.
• Ability to perform frequent heavy lifting, walking, and other physical tasks.
