Sterile Processing Technician (PRN) – St. Mary Campus

About the role

This position ensures the availability of cleaned, prepared, and sterilized equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. The technician acts as a resource for clinical knowledge and supports direct patient care across clinical, satellite, and operative suite environments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, clean, distribute, and store medical instruments and equipment.
• Perform general and specialized instrument care, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, packaging, and reassembly of surgical trays.
• Apply High Level Disinfection, Pre‑Vacuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement Sterilization, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma Sterilization techniques.
• Maintain accurate record keeping and document control per SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide necessary supplies for surgical procedures and perform other duties as assigned by the SPD Supervisor or Manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional degrees or certifications are a plus.
• Preferred: at least 2 years of sterile processing experience.
• Required certification: CRCST, IAHCSMM, CSPDT, CBSPD, CFER, or equivalent.

Required skills

• Proficient computer data‑entry skills and familiarity with Windows‑style applications.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques: High Level Disinfection, Pre‑Vacuum, Gravity Displacement, Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma.
• Ability to follow instrument cleaning and reassembly procedures accurately.
