Nurse Helper – Patient Care Assistant

About the role

The Nurse Helper is a new semi‑clinical position that supports nursing staff with basic patient care tasks. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, the role focuses on assisting adult patients with daily needs and maintaining a safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a sitter for patients requiring constant observation.
• Assist with patient movement, including positioning and ambulating.
• Make beds, set up and remove food trays for adult patients.
• Measure oral intake, calculate calorie counts, and assist with feeding.
• Provide code‑blue support as a compressor.
• Orient patients to their rooms and assist with admissions.
• Maintain clean rooms and stock supplies.
• Transport patients within the facility and for discharge.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
