Staff Technical Recruiter

About the role

Overstory is looking for a Staff Technical Recruiter to build its recruiting team and bring its mission to life. The role is hands-on and strategic: you will deliver day-to-day recruiting operations while shipping new features that help the company scale. You will own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles, partnering with hiring managers and leadership from role definition through sourcing, interviewing and offer negotiation, and sometimes other roles such as product or go-to-market depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles, from role definition and sourcing through interviewing, coordination and offer negotiation
• Work closely with hiring managers and leadership to understand team needs, shape role requirements and design hiring strategies
• Build and maintain candidate pipelines through creative sourcing, networking and application review
• Guide candidates through the interview process, coordinating across teams and time zones
• Build and refine the systems, processes, brand and network that make recruiting easier as the company scales
• Use data and feedback to optimise hiring practices and outcomes
• Act as a culture ambassador, bringing in mission-driven builders who reflect Overstory's values
• Pitch in across the people team as needed in a lean, fast-paced environment

Required profile

• 8+ years of technical recruiting experience in high-growth tech startups
• Proven track record closing hard-to-find technical talent, including machine learning engineers or other specialised roles
• Experience building systems and tooling to scale recruiting
• Experience in international, remote-first environments and hiring across multiple geographies
• Based in the UK, Europe or the East Coast of North America
• Openness to applying AI to make recruiting more effective
• Passion for the company's climate mission; less experienced candidates may also be considered at Senior Technical Recruiter level
