Staff Nurse

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) works under supervision to provide preventative health, urgent care, triage, immunizations, and health education for undergraduate and graduate students at Northeastern University Health and Counseling Services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct telephone and walk‑in triage, using assessments, protocols, and clinical judgment.
• Prepare students for clinical visits, record vital signs, and perform point‑of‑care and CLIA‑waived testing.
• Administer immunizations, medications, and therapeutic injections in line with approved protocols.
• Assist clinicians with procedures such as EKGs, ear lavage, suture removal, and specimen collection.
• Provide follow‑up outreach after visits, hospital transfers, or abnormal test results.
• Deliver health education, discharge instructions, and support for navigating the healthcare system.
• Maintain exam room turnover, supply stocking, vaccine storage, and infection control standards.

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted Massachusetts RN license and Basic Life Support certification.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; minimum three years nursing experience, ideally in ambulatory or student health settings.
• Strong knowledge of Massachusetts immunization compliance and ability to work inclusively with diverse student populations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, professionalism, and punctuality.
