Senior Hardware Test Engineer

About the role

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Hardware Test Engineer to lead hardware and firmware testing for EEG and Home Sleep Test systems. The role is part of the Device Team and reports to the VP of Device Systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute device testing in line with Beacon’s Quality Management System.
• Create and maintain test plans, protocols, scripts, fixtures, and equipment for embedded systems.
• Perform functional, integration, system and regression testing on hardware and firmware.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, CE, IEC 60601).
• Drive process improvements and test automation to boost quality and efficiency.

Required profile

• BS in engineering (or higher) with 5+ years of professional engineering experience (or 3+ years with an MS/PhD).
• Proven ability to write detailed technical specifications, test plans and reports.
• Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with design controls and medical device regulations is preferred.

Required skills

• Embedded software development on a real‑time operating system (RTOS).
• Scripting in Python.
• Version control and issue tracking tools such as Git, GitHub and JIRA.
• Hardware characterization, firmware unit testing, debugging and root‑cause analysis.

What we offer

• Salary range $120,000 – $140,000 plus equity, PTO and other benefits.
• Hybrid work model: ~3 days per week onsite in Boston with flexible hours.
