Academic Partnerships Director

About the role

Beacon Biosignals is seeking an Academic Partnerships Director to grow adoption of its at‑home EEG platform within academic and research institutions. The role will manage relationships with principal investigators, academic medical centers, core facilities, and research consortia conducting grant‑funded studies in neurology, psychiatry, and sleep.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage a portfolio of relationships with PIs, academic centers, and research consortia pursuing NIH, NSF, foundation, and other grant‑funded studies.
• Partner with investigators during proposal development to position Beacon’s Waveband EEG platform as the preferred solution and support scientific and budgetary narratives.
• Apply knowledge of U.S., EU, and international grant funding cycles to time outreach and shape proposals.
• Generate, negotiate, and close academic and grant‑funded opportunities, recording activity in Beacon’s CRM.
• Represent Beacon at academic conferences (e.g., SLEEP, SfN, ACNP, ASSC) and build networks with grants administrators and technology transfer offices.
• Collaborate with program management, clinical operations, marketing, and scientific teams to ensure accurate scoping and successful delivery of partnerships.

Required profile

• MD with psychiatry or neurology training, or PhD in neuroscience.
• 3+ years of experience in business development, academic partnerships, or alliance management, preferably supporting grant‑funded research.
• Firsthand familiarity with academic research and grant funding environments through prior lab, postdoctoral, or research administration experience.
• Strong scientific acumen in neuroscience, sleep science, or related clinical research.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build trusted relationships with investigators and academic leadership.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CRM tools for tracking accounts and opportunities.
