Staff Database Engineer

About the role

Join BILL’s Core Infrastructure Team as a Staff Database Engineer, designing and automating mission‑critical database platforms that power the company’s fintech applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement automated database infrastructure for PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL and DynamoDB.
• Build real‑time data replication pipelines streaming data into Kafka using Oracle GoldenGate and Debezium.
• Develop custom tooling and CI/CD pipelines for automated failovers and scaling.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Developers and Architects to create high‑performance, event‑driven data pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of database administration experience (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) with 3+ years managing databases on AWS.
• Strong expertise in database optimization, security, access control and complex SQL query tuning.

Required skills

• Python or Go programming.
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Git.
• Experience with replication tools such as Oracle GoldenGate or Debezium.
• Monitoring and alerting using DataDog, Splunk and CloudWatch.
• Knowledge of Kafka, AWS ECS and cloud‑native services.
