Software Engineer – AI‑Native CAD Integrations

About the role

Quilter is building AI‑driven tools that automate PCB design. As a Software Engineer on the File I/O team you will work with Python to parse, translate, and generate complex CAD file formats and integrate them with Quilter’s internal board model.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and extend integrations with major CAD vendors (Altium, Cadence Allegro, Siemens Xpedition).
• Reverse‑engineer proprietary binary and text‑based formats, collaborating with senior engineers.
• Shape Quilter’s internal PCB representation as new tools are supported.
• Write robust, well‑tested code that handles messy real‑world customer data.
• Build and use agent‑powered workflows for CAD reverse engineering.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of software engineering experience, preferably backend or systems work.
• Strong proficiency in Python and a track record of clean, production‑grade code.
• Comfort with ambiguous, reverse‑engineering problems and undocumented formats.
• Solid fundamentals in design, testing, and debugging.
• Excellent communication and high ownership in a fast‑moving startup.

Required skills

• Python
• C or C++ (nice‑to‑have)
• Knowledge of binary formats (protobuf, XML, JSON, custom binaries)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Familiarity with PCB/EDA/CAD workflows (nice‑to‑have)
