qualityworksconsulting
Job description
About the role
QualityWorks Consulting Group is looking for a mid-level Software Engineer / Application Developer to support the stability, maintenance, security and continuous improvement of an AI-enabled software platform built on TypeScript, Node.js and AWS, in a federal/DoD technology environment. The role is full-time and remote, focused on application support, defect resolution and AI model optimization.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve application bugs and system issues across frontend, API, database and cloud services, including defects found by autonomous testing and human validation.
- Perform root-cause analysis, develop, test, document and deploy fixes, and collaborate with Test Engineers to reproduce defects and validate them.
- Analyze logs, metrics, APIs, databases, integrations and AWS infrastructure, and support production incidents and application maintenance, upgrades and security remediation.
- Take part in code reviews, follow secure coding practices, maintain technical documentation and support controlled releases following runbooks and change-control processes.
- Protect government, sensitive, proprietary and CUI information and follow access-control, cybersecurity and data-handling requirements.
- Tune and optimize AI models: review performance, analyze AI behavior, adjust prompts, configurations, guardrails and workflows, establish baselines, validate changes in non-production environments and document changes.
Required profile
- 3-5 years of professional software engineering or application development experience, including 3+ years with TypeScript and Node.js on frontend and backend.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills, and experience collaborating with QA/Test Engineers.
- Ability to work in a government-managed AWS environment with restricted access, least-privilege permissions and approval-gated changes.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination and DoD system access; the employer cannot sponsor employment visas.
Required skills
- TypeScript, Node.js, Docker and Git.
- AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, ECR, RDS, S3, SQS, IAM and CloudWatch.
- CI/CD and secure software development practices.
- Preferred: Next.js, tRPC, Prisma, AWS CDK, Amazon Bedrock, prompt engineering and RAG.
