Server - Oldtown Salinas

About the role

Alvarado Street Brewery is looking for a server for its Oldtown Salinas location, reporting to the General Manager. The role is an hourly position with hours that vary according to business needs, and it involves friendly, attentive service that fulfills and exceeds guests' expectations. The company is a craft brewery with three locations in Monterey County.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests, make them feel comfortable and inform them of specials and menu changes
• Make genuine recommendations and answer questions about food, beverages and restaurant services
• Take food and beverage orders and enter them in the point-of-sale system so they go to the kitchen and bar
• Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely way
• Perform side work at the start and end of each shift, keep service areas clean and monitor guests' dining experience
• Prepare the final bill, present the check, accept payment and process credit card charges or make change
• Assist fellow servers and bussers, respond promptly to requests and thank guests
• Follow company safety and health policies and procedures

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years old
• Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures
• At least 1 year of server experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
• Valid ServSafe (Safe Food Handling) certification
• Able to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50+ pounds on occasion and work in busy, sometimes noisy and occasionally slippery environments
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts

Required skills

• Basic math skills and ability to handle money and use a point-of-sale system
• Excellent verbal and listening communication skills
• Professional demeanor under pressure and teamwork spirit
