About the role

Alvarado Street Brewery Taproom in Oldtown Salinas is looking for a dishwasher, reporting to the Executive Chef. The position is an hourly full-time role in the restaurant sector, focused on keeping the kitchen, cooking tools and equipment clean and sanitized, and making sure the Executive Chef's standards, protocols and processes are followed.

Key responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machinery and set up dishwashing machines and pot-washing stations
• Clean and store silverware and restock silverware, china, pots and pans in preparation and service areas
• Maintain proper chemical levels in dispensing equipment and keep the dishwashing area clean and safe
• Take out garbage receptacles and compost bins, remove mats, sweep and mop floors, and wash and polish stainless steel
• Clean kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, fryers, steam tables, grills, griddles, steamers, kettles, mixers, choppers and slicers, as well as shelves, walls, windows and doors
• Keep the receiving area clean, break down boxes, organize recycling and support the kitchen's recycling policy
• Clean bathrooms and walk-in areas, and perform other tasks as assigned
• Follow all company safety and health policies and procedures

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift correctly and arrange cleaned equipment neatly
• Ability to understand directions and communicate clearly with supervisors and co-workers
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50+ pounds, and work in crowded, noisy and sometimes slippery environments

Required skills

• Knowledge of sanitation is helpful
• Able to operate food preparation appliances and machinery
