Host / Food Runner / Busser

About the role

Alvarado Street Brewery is looking for a host, food runner and busser to report to the General Manager. The role creates an exceptional dining experience by greeting guests and overseeing dining room activities. It is an hourly, part-time position with hours that vary according to business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Cover the entrance, greet arriving guests and thank those leaving
• Maintain cleanliness of the outlet and check menus for accuracy
• Answer the telephone, give directions and answer questions about menu items
• Maintain the waiting list, select tables, escort guests and schedule reservations
• Resolve guest problems and direct difficult communication to the manager
• Clear tables, assist with set-up and describe table settings to the busser
• Confirm large parties, take and serve drinks, run food orders and bring guests' needs to the attention of staff or management
• Follow company safety and health policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 6 months of experience in a full-service restaurant preferred
• Valid ServSafe food handling certification if handling food
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle stress professionally and work in a team
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts
• Able to stand, lift up to 50+ pounds on occasion and work indoors and outdoors
