Senior Software Engineer, Automation & Developer Tools

About the role

Everlaw is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Platform Engineering team, focused on Automation & Developer Tools. You will design and build the systems that let engineers ship with confidence, owning distributed test execution and internal tooling as products for the engineering team. The role sits in the Platform Engineering team, where your fellow engineers are your customers.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build test infrastructure as a product: frameworks, libraries and services that make writing fast, reliable tests easy.
• Design scalable CI systems (e.g. GitHub Actions, CircleCI) to keep feedback loops short as the codebase grows.
• Build internal developer tools that improve productivity and shorten iteration cycles.
• Tackle reliability problems such as flaky-test detection, test isolation and environment/data management.
• Drive best practices in testing, observability and release confidence across the engineering org.
• Research and implement new automation approaches, including the use of AI.
• Use coverage and failure data to guide where engineering teams invest in testing and influence architecture so code is testable by design.
• Mentor engineers on test design, tooling and automation best practices.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent coursework.
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including time building or owning testing frameworks, CI systems or developer tooling.
• Experience designing or improving CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI or GitLab.
• Experience building testing strategies across the stack (unit, integration, API and end-to-end).
• Ability to navigate Linux-based systems and debug complex problems in distributed systems.
• Authorized to work in the United States without restrictions; Everlaw is not sponsoring employment visas for this role.

Required skills

• Expertise in at least one major language: Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, C#, Go or Rust.
• Fluency with data structures and algorithms, design patterns and coding best practices.
• Experience building cloud-based software and leading multi-developer efforts.

• Expected salary range of $173,000 to $251,000, depending on experience and skills.
