Technical Consultant (Appian Low-Code)

About the role

Appian Customer Success is looking for a Technical Consultant to act as its consulting arm, partnering with large commercial clients on custom software solutions built on Appian's AI-powered process automation platform. The role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technical innovation, working side by side with client executives to solve complex workflow problems and build robust integrations. It is based in McLean/Tysons, Virginia, on-site, with up to 20% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy custom automation solutions across the project lifecycle using Appian's low-code platform.
• Build data connections and scalable APIs to integrate external enterprise systems via REST, SOAP and JDBC.
• Launch new relational data models in production and optimise database design with SQL.
• Deliver features in cross-functional Agile teams (sprints, stand-ups, pair programming).
• Work with client technical teams and business stakeholders to drive platform adoption and train users.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics or a closely related technical field.
• 1+ year of hands-on software development or technical implementation consulting experience.
• Ability to analyse client business processes and turn them into functional and technical requirements.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.
• U.S. citizenship required for public sector roles.

Required skills

• Object-oriented programming, database design and SQL (complex queries, joins, views)
• REST, SOAP and JDBC integrations
• Preferred: AWS, Google Cloud or Elastic Containers, AI/ML, analytics, CI/CD test suites, and enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow

• Base salary range of $75,000-$175,000 USD, with eligibility for a government clearance differential and possible discretionary bonus.
