Senior Research Development Officer

About the role

The Office of Research Development at Northeastern University supports faculty and researchers in developing and submitting research proposals, fostering a strong research culture at this national R1 university.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy and management of large, complex research proposals and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Develop partnerships, build capacity, and support early‑career and non‑traditional faculty in securing diverse funding sources.
• Collaborate with research support services to strengthen institutional infrastructure for interdisciplinary research.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with five years of research development experience, or doctoral degree with three years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of federal and non‑federal extramural sponsors and proposal processes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to translate scientific concepts for varied audiences.

Required skills

• Strong technical writing and proposal development expertise.
• Project and program management experience for complex, multi‑investigator proposals.
