Senior Platform / Build Engineer, NIX

About the role

Revel is seeking a Senior Platform/Build Engineer to lead the design and operation of Nix‑based CI and deployment pipelines. You will work on‑site in Marina Del Rey or San Francisco, collaborating with the Nix lead and platform team to deliver zero‑downtime deployments for critical hardware systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Nix‑native CI and deployment pipelines from commit to production.
• Maintain and evolve the internal Nix package set and drive NixOS adoption across infrastructure.
• Own and optimize the CI compute pool, improving throughput and managing resource allocation.
• Partner with engineering leadership on hardware capacity planning and infrastructure procurement.
• Improve developer ergonomics around Nix tooling, documentation, standards, and workflows.

Required profile

• 5+ years building internal developer platforms, build systems, or CI/CD infrastructure.
• Hands‑on experience with a Nix‑based build system for a production product.
• Proven track record delivering software with zero‑downtime deployment practices.
• Experience managing high‑consequence systems where reliability directly impacts customers.

• Cloud platforms: AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure
• Linux fundamentals: kernel, systemd, Secure Boot, system hardening
• Build tooling: CMake/pkg‑config, Cargo/Rustc, Go, Vite (TypeScript), setuptools/uv/hatchling (Python)
