Senior Mill Accountant

About the role

The Senior Mill Accountant leads the plant accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies. This position partners closely with the Mill Controller and plant leadership to drive financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of accounting clerks, establishing procedures for reconciliations and analysis.
• Oversee monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and allocation of costs.
• Manage inventory accounting, accounts payable, and fixed‑asset records, ensuring proper capitalization of capital projects.
• Provide financial analysis, cost reporting, and support for budgeting, forecasts, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Maintain internal controls to ensure Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance and act as a liaison between plant and corporate accounting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing accounting functions and staff.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
