Senior Machine Learning Engineer - PhD Early Career

About the role

Roblox is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a PhD to lead high‑impact AI projects from ideation through production and academic publication. You will work on world‑scale challenges in computer vision, multimodality, NLP, or recommendation systems, shaping experiences for millions of daily active users.

Key responsibilities

• Prototype and implement advanced AI and ML solutions that drive core platform features at scale.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain cutting‑edge models (deep learning, generative AI, multimodal architectures) for high‑impact technical challenges.
• Collaborate with applied researchers, engineers, and product teams to translate research into production‑ready systems.
• Build scalable, robust infrastructure that directly impacts hundreds of millions of users.

Required profile

• PhD (or pursuing) in computer science, engineering, or related field with a thesis aligned to Roblox’s research areas.
• Strong research track record with multiple peer‑reviewed publications.
• Deep expertise in a technical domain such as deep learning, computer vision, NLP, reinforcement learning, or distributed systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, C++, Go, or Java.
• Experience building and optimizing large‑scale systems.
• Hands‑on knowledge of deep learning, computer vision, NLP, reinforcement learning, and distributed systems.

What we offer

• Annual base salary range $196,750 – $243,290.
