Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer

About the role

Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that keep people safe. The Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer will design and develop hardware components and systems, working closely with cross‑functional teams at the Newburgh, IN headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Define and translate customer, regulatory and internal needs into clear engineering requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Develop hardware specifications, architecture decisions, and PCB layouts using Altium Designer, ensuring signal and power integrity.
• Plan and execute proof‑of‑concept builds, prototype, debug and validate circuits against safety and industry standards.
• Lead cross‑functional design reviews, create verification plans, and manage manufacturing documentation (BOMs, assembly drawings, test procedures).
• Provide advanced support to field technicians, conduct root‑cause investigations, and manage component lifecycle and obsolescence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in electronic hardware design from concept through production.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and mentorship abilities.

Required skills

• Altium Designer (preferred) and familiarity with KiCad, OrCAD, Eagle.
• Analog and digital circuit design, component selection, and reliability considerations.
• PCB layout, library management, and design release practices.
• Use of test and measurement equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, and power supplies.
