Senior Accountant – Finance Operations

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant – Finance Operations to join a mission‑driven nonprofit organization on a remote basis. The role focuses on overseeing day‑to‑day general ledger activities, leading month‑end close processes, and supporting system modernization initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑scope account reconciliations, including bank, GL, deferred revenue, investments, payroll, AP and accrued expenses.
• Drive month‑end close, prepare financial statements, process payroll and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support external audit preparation and compile documentation for Form 990 tax filing.
• Modernize accounting workflows, standardize internal control documentation and streamline operational reporting.
• Assist with financial technology upgrades, focusing on optimization and automation of Sage Intacct ERP.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with direct nonprofit accounting exposure.
• Strong general‑ledger and reconciliation expertise.
• Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Sage Intacct (or equivalent ERP system).
