Senior Account Executive – US Public Sector (Civilian & Federal)

About the role

As a Senior Account Executive at Cohere you will own the full sales cycle with U.S. Federal Civilian departments and agencies, driving new customer acquisition and building long‑term partnerships. You will focus on non‑defense Cabinet‑level agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, State Department and Treasury, collaborating with internal teams and channel partners to deliver AI‑driven solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive net‑new customer acquisition through outbound outreach, senior leader engagement and relationship building across 14 non‑defense Cabinet‑level agencies.
• Own the complete sales process—from discovery and proof‑of‑concept to procurement and deal closure—in a team‑selling environment.
• Partner with distributors, VARs and system integrators to scale outreach and accelerate adoption.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, SDRs and Marketing to shape solutions and generate top‑of‑funnel activity.

Required profile

• 10+ years of U.S. Federal Government sales experience with a track record of meeting $5M+ annual quotas.
• Deep knowledge of federal procurement cycles, decision‑making processes and experience working with resellers, VARs and distributors.
• Established network in the Washington, D.C. metro area and ability to travel 25‑35%.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders in fast‑moving deals.
