Security Officer – Days

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Security Officer to work day shifts across its hospitals, parking facilities, and satellite sites in Bethlehem. The role focuses on protecting patients, staff, visitors, and property while responding to emergencies and maintaining a safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol internal and external areas of hospitals, clinics, and parking lots, reporting safety hazards and security concerns.
• Control access to facilities, intervene with suspicious behavior, and detain individuals when reasonable suspicion exists.
• Respond to coded alarms, provide security escorts, and assist with evacuations during emergencies.
• Operate and maintain security vehicles, shuttles, and equipment in safe condition.
• Conduct initial inquiries for administrative and potential criminal complaints and document findings.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 1 year of security, law‑enforcement, corrections, or military experience, or graduation from a law‑enforcement academy.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make critical decisions.
• Knowledge of LVHN emergency codes and response protocols.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association) within 90 days of hire.
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) – Basic Level within 90 days.
• Basic Comprehensive Crisis Management (BCCM) certification within 90 days.
• Proficiency with access‑control and alarm‑system troubleshooting.
