Aquatics Operations Coordinator

About the role

The Aquatics Operations Coordinator supports the Aquatics Director in managing pool operations, supervising lifeguard staff, and ensuring a safe, compliant environment for all users of the Trefethen Aquatic Center.

Key responsibilities

• Train, supervise, and schedule student workers and part‑time staff, using When to Work software and providing substitute coverage as needed.
• Maintain lifeguard performance through in‑service training, drills, and certification courses, including Red Cross Lifeguard and Instructor programs.
• Oversee facility and equipment operations, ensure compliance with safety policies, regulatory requirements, and standard operating procedures.
• Assist with special events, swim lessons, water polo tournaments, and campus programming, handling set‑up, coordination, and marketing.
• Provide customer service, cashiering, signage updates, website and social‑media content, and conduct surveys to improve user experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 3‑5 years of aquatic facility management experience.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel certifications (Title 22).
• Ability to perform physical duties such as standing, lifting, walking, and swimming.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills for conflict resolution.

Required skills

• Proficiency with When to Work scheduling software.
• Familiarity with Workday timekeeping (preferred).
• Experience navigating the American Red Cross SABA platform.
