Security Engineer – Quantum Computing Software

About the role

IBM Quantum is looking for a Security Engineer specialized in quantum computing software. Based at the T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, you will protect critical applications, infrastructure, and data in a high‑tech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities across software and cloud platforms.
• Implement and enforce security policies, regulatory standards, and best‑practice frameworks.
• Collaborate with IBM’s CISO, development teams, and operations to embed security throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead incident response activities, conduct forensic analysis, and develop preventive strategies.
• Perform penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and security monitoring.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software security, or related fields.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in multi‑team settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Network security, application security, IAM, data encryption, vulnerability management, security incident response.
• Penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, IDS, firewall management.
• Cloud security, cloud storage, network configuration, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud‑based identity management.
