Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Sensors Integration

About the role

The Onboard Sensors Team builds the perception system for autonomous vehicles. You will help shape Waabi’s sensor platform, integrate and field sensor systems, and ensure reliable operation on real‑world trucks and robotaxis.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the Waabi sensors platform as we scale.
• Solve integration issues across sensor modalities (LIDAR, RADAR, cameras…).
• Deploy and debug software on real vehicles operating daily.
• Integrate new sensor types into existing and future onboard platforms.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary development teams to design innovative sensor solutions.
• Work with operations teams to understand live system behavior, resolve issues and mature the system.

Required profile

• 6+ years of industry experience with fielded sensor systems (cameras, lidar, radar, GPS, IMU).
• Experience collaborating with large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust in resource‑constrained environments.
• Independently led engineering efforts to solve critical systems problems.
• Experience fielding and debugging Linux systems below the application level.
