The role covers customer consulting, proof of concept and simulation work, and contributes to the company's open-source code.

- Design, build and demonstrate proof-of-concept applications that validate customer use cases.
- Build and present simulation models of customer applications (cell layouts, reachability studies, cycle-time estimates, virtual demos).
- Plan and support hackathons, workshops, trade shows and technical demos, with on-site coaching and demo setups.
- Develop customer-facing solutions, sample applications and integration tools, and contribute code to the Franka Robotics GitHub repositories (libfranka, franka_ros2).
- Pass customer requirements and field insights back to Product Management and R&D in Munich.
- Create demos, documentation, tutorials and training material for customers, partners and internal sales colleagues.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in applications engineering, solutions engineering, pre-sales or robotics development.
- Proven ability to build demos or prototypes quickly and present them to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to travel regularly to customer sites, hackathons and trade shows across the US.
- Nice to have: prior customer-facing technical sales or consulting experience, and existing open-source contributions or a public robotics portfolio.
Required skills
- C++ programming.
- ROS / ROS 2 and robot manipulators (collaborative robots a strong plus).
- 3D manufacturing/robotics simulation (OLP solutions) for layout, feasibility and virtual commissioning.
- Git/GitHub and open-source code contribution.
- Nice to have: Franka platform experience, motion planning, control, machine learning, teleoperation, other simulators (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, Visual Components), real-time control and Linux.
What we offer
- Full-time, exempt position with a salary of $155,000 to $195,000 USD per year depending on experience and location in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Performance-based bonuses.
- Health, dental and vision insurance, and a 401k plan.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Professional development opportunities.
