RN Specialist - Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

About the role

The RN Specialist in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation will plan, coordinate and implement therapy for cardiac and pulmonary patients at Akron General Medical Center. This full‑day position supports patients with complex heart and lung conditions and contributes to preventing readmissions.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' clinical status and prescribe rehab services according to protocol.
• Educate patients and families about cardiopulmonary diseases, treatments, and risk‑factor reduction.
• Document progress, develop individualized exercise prescriptions, and participate in interdisciplinary case‑management meetings.
• Assist in developing new programs, educational materials, policies, and performance‑improvement standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current Ohio RN licensure.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience in coronary care, critical care, or med/surg.
• Preferred: one year of cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Knowledge of exercise physiology.
• Ability to assess and document patient progress across all phases of rehabilitation.
