Advanced Practice Provider – Cardiovascular Surgery (PRN)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) to support the Cardiovascular Surgery team on a PRN basis. The role involves ICU rounding, post‑operative management, and inpatient consults for complex cardiovascular cases.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ICU rounding, post‑operative patient management, and consults for cardiovascular, infection, or trauma‑related conditions.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room as first assist for cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular procedures, including vein harvesting.
• Insert and manage central lines, arterial lines, and remove pacer wires as credentialed.
• Conduct thorough histories, physical exams, order and interpret labs, imaging, and cardiographic studies.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state licensing and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Required profile

• Current licensure as RN, NP, PA, or CNS in the applicable state.
• ICU experience, preferably in cardiovascular surgery, general surgery, or cardiology.
• National certification for NP, PA, or CNS as applicable.
• Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Pediatric Advanced Life Support may be required.

Required skills

• ICU patient care and management.

• Interpretation of laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic data.
• Medication prescribing within scope of practice.
