Certified Nurse Midwife III PRN

About the role

The Certified Nurse Midwife III PRN provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care across the lifespan, delivering both outpatient and inpatient services at Akron General Medical Center. This PRN position offers flexible hours, including night call and in‑house coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full‑scope midwifery care, including contraceptive services (IUDs, subdermal implants), prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum management.
• Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and order/interpret diagnostic tests.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and institutional guidelines.
• Educate patients on disease processes, treatment options, and medication side effects.
• Participate in medical rounds, discharge planning, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a preceptor for students and assist in onboarding new caregivers.

Required profile

• Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (CNM) with current RN and NP licenses.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN program; MSN required within 3 years of hire.
• Current certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including nights and on‑call duties.
