RN – Emergency Department – Night Shift (7 pm‑7:30 am)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Akron General Emergency Department is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to work the night shift (7 pm‑7:30 am). You will provide direct patient care, education, and advocacy in a fast‑paced Level I trauma environment.

Key responsibilities

• Complete Emergency Department assessment database on patient arrival, including psychosocial and age‑specific needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments, recognize significant changes, and intervene promptly.
• Develop and update individualized plans of care, including patient/family teaching.
• Administer IVs and medications accurately and document per policy.
• Serve as patient/family advocate, facilitate communication, and resolve ethical dilemmas.
• Function in triage and flow‑manager roles according to department policy.
• Participate in discharge planning, orientation of new staff, and clinical education activities.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or ALS certification (upon hire or within one year).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (upon hire or within one year).
• Successful completion of AGMC RN and critical‑care orientation programs.

Required skills

• IV therapy and medication administration.
• Patient assessment and triage in an emergency setting.
• Use of Emergency Department protocols and documentation systems.
• Basic and advanced life support skills (BLS, ACLS, PALS).
