About the role

The Nutrition Assistant supports patient nutrition care at Akron General Medical Center by delivering menus, assisting with meal selections, and ensuring dietary orders are accurately entered and fulfilled.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver and collect menus from patients and care units, explaining the selection process.
  • Verify meal selections, enter orders into the handheld dietary system, and review entries for completeness.
  • Update patient lists for diet order changes and check trays for accuracy before delivery.
  • Run tray tickets, compare them with diet lists, adjust as needed, and confirm changes with a Registered Dietitian.
  • Provide clerical support, run lists and worksheets, and assist with inventory and storage of menus.

Required profile

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to understand dietary terminology and basic nutrition concepts.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software applications.
  • Physical ability to lift 30 lb or more.

Required skills

  • Use of handheld dietary ordering system.
  • Basic computer software (e.g., data entry, email).
