RN - Emergency Department - 7p-7a

About the role

The Emergency Department at Akron General Medical Center is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to work the night shift (7:00 pm – 7:30 am). The RN will provide direct patient care, education, and advocacy in a fast‑paced, Level I Emergency Department.

Key responsibilities

• Complete Emergency Department assessment database on patient arrival, including psychosocial and educational needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and document interventions.
• Administer IVs and medications accurately, intervene on changes in patient condition, and act as patient/family advocate.
• Function in triage and flow‑manager roles, handle crisis situations, and provide care for sexual assault or geriatric abuse victims.
• Participate in orientation, clinical instruction, in‑service education, and departmental committees.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current Ohio RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (by hire or within one year).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (by hire or within one year).
