RN Ambulatory – Gastroenterology

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Akron General Gastroenterology outpatient unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting. The role works Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:30 pm, supporting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while ensuring a patient‑centered experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments, telephone triage, develop care plans, and administer medications and treatments.
• Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including colonoscopies and endoscopies.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures, and notify physicians or Licensed Independent Providers of abnormal findings.
• Provide health education to patients and families, document care, and cover other nursing roles within the department.
• Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures as needed.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school with current state RN licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• At least one year of recent experience as an RN, LPN, Medical Assistant, or comparable clinical role, preferably in an ambulatory setting.
• Physical ability to perform full range of motion, manual dexterity, and lift light loads (up to 20 lb occasionally).
