RN – Acute Care Orthopedic Surgery and Ortho Trauma Unit

About the role

The Registered Nurse will work on the 52B Orthopedic/Surgical Unit at Akron General Medical Center, providing post‑surgical care for patients undergoing knee, hip, shoulder, ankle, and spinal procedures. The position is a night shift (7:00 pm‑7:30 am) with every other weekend and three holidays per year.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, administer treatments and medications, and document patient information.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for the orthopedic trauma patient population.
• Recognize changes in patient condition, respond appropriately, and coordinate interdisciplinary care plans.
• Delegate tasks, serve as a resource for the care team, and participate in quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform manual tasks as described.
