Revenue Tax Officer (Level 1‑2) – Louisiana Department of Revenue

About the role

The Louisiana Department of Revenue is seeking motivated individuals to join its Business Tax Enforcement Division as Revenue Tax Officers (Level 1‑2). In this position you will help ensure compliance with state tax laws while providing professional service to taxpayers.

Key responsibilities

• Research, collect, and resolve delinquent tax liabilities in accordance with department policies and procedures.
• Monitor taxpayer actions to assure compliance with court‑ordered judgments.
• Conduct field visits to collect delinquent taxes, verify business registrations, and advise on filing requirements.
• Collect taxes at special events such as trade shows, fairs, and festivals.
• Prepare and submit collection reports as requested.

Required profile

• Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy, law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; or six years of full‑time work experience in any field; or a bachelor’s degree.
• Ability to make accurate judgments, manage resources, and think critically.

Required skills

• Knowledge of state tax laws and regulations.
• Experience with field investigations and taxpayer compliance monitoring.
• Ability to prepare clear collection reports.

What we offer

• Starting hourly rate of $17.79 for Revenue Tax Officer 1 or $19.04 for Revenue Tax Officer 2.
• Bi‑weekly pay of $1,423.20 or $1,523.20 respectively.
