About the role

As a year‑round Block Advisor Tax Advisor you will act as a trusted guide, helping clients navigate complex tax and business situations. You will prepare accurate returns, uncover savings opportunities, and build lasting relationships, supported by industry‑leading training, technology, a competitive hourly rate, and an incentive plan.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate individual and business tax returns for clients with diverse and complex situations.
• Conduct in‑depth client interviews to understand financial changes and tax implications, then deliver clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build year‑round client relationships by providing empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax‑saving opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products.
• Provide IRS support, tax‑notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client‑focused office environment.

Required profile

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax‑notice resolution.
• Client‑facing, consultative or advisory experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must meet all IRS and applicable state continuing‑education requirements.
• High school diploma / GED or equivalent.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GoSystem or UltraTax tax software.
• Familiarity with AI‑powered tools such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT.
